My mission is to help Women of Color feel more liberated and empowered to be the best version of themselves.

Erika Moore, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Therapy for Women of Color. I have been practicing for over 12 years and specialize in issues pertaining to womanhood, relationships, and trauma.

In addition to private practice, I have worked as a Clinical Supervisor and Therapist in community mental health agencies. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adult women, treating the more common mental health concerns of depression and anxiety, to the more complex issues of personality disorders and intimate partner violence. I value my time and experience as a community mental health worker as it helped shape my beliefs and values as a business woman and clinician in private practice. It helped me understand the needs of People of Color through the various lenses of systemic oppression.

As a Woman of Color, I am committed to working with other women who have been marginalized and oppressed. My mission is to help women feel more liberated and empowered to be the best version of themselves.

My approach

I work from a client-centered approach, always keeping in mind that the client is the expert of their life. I also view therapy as a collaborative effort between the two of us. It is a partnership we enter. You, the client, bring the knowledge and expertise about your lived experiences. I, the therapist, bring my clinical knowledge, evidence based solutions, and human touch. Additionally, I hope to provide you with a holding space that feels safe and secure. Together we work toward a similar end goal in mind, one where you see the change you want to see in yourself.

As a mental health professional, I commit to and practice from a place that honors my client’s cultural strengths. The needs of Women of Color are centered in my work and culturally affirming care is the norm. I seek to celebrate all of my client’s identities and together we work to destigmatize mental health care one person at a time.
